The government of U.S. has purchased 195 million doses of H1N1 swine flu vaccine for this autumn vaccination campaign, a U.S. federal official said on Thursday. The Health and Human Services Department of U.S. has purchased 120 million doses of adjuvant.
Five companies are producing H1N1 vaccine for the U.S. they are AstraZeneca’s MedImmune unit, Australia's CSL Ltd, GlaxoSmithKline Plc, Novartis AG and Sanofi-Aventis SA.
In October, World Health Organization and U.S. health officials plan to start vaccinating people against H1N1.Before giving this vaccine to the people this should be approved by the FDA; FDA also likes to speed this process as soon as possible so that it reaches to the people earlier.People below the age of 25 get sick most frequently, even though most of the 263 deaths which were recorded in the U.S. are between 25 and 49. People under the age of 65 have low risk, because they are exposed to viruses in the same influenza family for years.
